FAQ
All you need to do is show up! Any time we are open we are ready to welcome first-time climbers. Everyone entering the climbing area will also need to fill out a Vertical Endeavors Liability Waiver and attend a short facility orientation. Anyone under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or court-appointed legal guardian. You can save time by filling out our online waiver before your visit. With Auto Belays (a device that takes up slack in the rope as you climb and slowly lets you down when you let go) and bouldering caves, anyone can become a consistent climber.
You should wear loose, comfortable, athletic clothing and tight shoes if you won’t be renting climbing shoes. Rental shoes are available for $5. If you have long hair bring something to tie it back.
Anyone. One of the great things about climbing is that anyone can excel. Unlike many sports in which only specific body types can excel (like height in basketball) anyone can climb. Also, because of the slow, controlled movements involved in climbing, many climbers can continue into their 60’s and 70’s.
Climbing is a full body workout. The common conception that climbing is all about upper body strength is completely false. Elegance of balance, movement and economy of strength are much more important. More than anything, climbing is fun. It combines the physicality of sport with problem solving, technique, and the mental stamina to overcome fears.
No! Come one, come all. VE has climbing for all ages and abilities. There is no minimum or maximum age to climb at Vertical Endeavors. We do have age restrictions for using certain areas in the facility and for obtaining certain qualifications, such as belaying. See facility signage and the Vertical Endeavors Rules Agreement for more details
There is no weight limit for climbing in the facility in the Bouldering Areas or on Top Rope or Sport Lead Climbing. The Spectrum Auto Belay systems used in our facilities are tested for up to 250 lbs.
