Twin Cities Elite Team Assistant COACH

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Twin Cities Elite Team Program Facilitation
    • Work under the direction of the VE – Twin Cities Elite Team Head Coach to facilitate practices, events, and competition attendance
    • Follow general Vertical Endeavors policies and procedures
    • Risk Management
    • Administrative Tasks:
      • Upkeep the Youth Program Groups system in Rock Gym Pro
      • Customer correspondence
      • Scouting + Recruitment of potential athletes, including current Intermediate + Advanced Team athletes at VE facilities
      • Attend monthly All-Area Head Coaches meetings.
    • Manage communication with parents about athletes’ progress, concerns, upcoming events & session information
    • Advance youth athletes in a way that fosters a love for climbing, athletic performance, outdoor stewardship, and individual growth and development
    • Assist the VE – Twin Cities Elite Team Head Coach in the development of curriculum content, including youth-centered training, team building, and individual goals
  • Possible self-scheduled Private Lessons with Team athletes
  • Show initiative, self-motivation, and a high level of organization
  • Show a strong sense of leadership and communication skills
  • Provide exemplary customer service to Team participants and families, including providing excellent coaching
  • Follow risk management protocol and prioritize safety on team

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-years of climbing experience
    • Ability to climb 5.12/V6
    • In-depth knowledge of climbing equipment + manufacturer recommendations for applicable uses
    • Ability to articulate climbing techniques, movement-enhancing tips, and training recommendations for youth climbers.
  • Minimum of 1-years’ experience coaching/teaching youth
  • Experience with USA Climbing/youth competitive climbing preferred
  • Certification through the Climbing Wall Association’s Climbing Wall Instructor course preferred
  • Customer service and administrative experience preferred

Expectations

  • 12 Hours per week
    • Can be combined with other employment hours at a Vertical Endeavors facility to create a Part Time (up to 30 hr.) or Full Time (up to 40 hr.) position depending on facility needs and management approval. Current VE staff are encouraged to apply!
  • Evening and weekend availability required
    • Elite Team practices are held T/Th/Su evenings
  • Must be dependable and punctual
    • Dependable transportation is preferred with practices happening in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Bloomington, Minnesota
  • Must display professionalism and integrity
  • Available to work special events, training events, and travel to competitions
  • Become a USA Climbing certified coach
    • Be familiar with USA Climbing rulebook and policies
