About Me: Married for 16 years with 2 girls; 13 and 10. Climbing has been a major aspect of my life for almost 20 years. For many years I was focused on climbing harder and more aggressive lines. This has moved to a focus on the experience and enjoyment of the climb. This has led to longer less difficult climbs that have a cool feature or in an interesting setting.
Hometown: North Branch, MN
Climbing Since: 1998
Favorite Type of Climbing: Trad
Favorite Climbing Area: Yosemite
Best Climbing Story/What I love about climbing… To date my happiest moment climbing was when I topped out on Devils Tower in WY with my 12 year old daughter.
Other Interests: Camping & Backpacking
Interesting Facts: Owls can’t turn their eyes.
About Me: I have more legs then I have I body, so finding pants that fit me can be hard. I never seemed to like any major sports growing up, such as football and basketball. So I played a lot of random sports, which I feel has turned me into the major gear junkie I am today. I know an absurd amount of gear facts most people don’t care about, but I’m happy to keep telling people about them. I hate math, but love raspberries.
Hometown: Grand Forks, ND
Climbing Since: 2009
Favorite Type of Climbing (Bouldering/Top Rope/Sport Lead/Trad): Hard Top Ropes
Favorite Climbing Area: Moab UT
Best Climbing Story/What I love about climbing: I had only been climbing indoors for 3 months when I did my very first outdoor rock climb. The route was a 5.10 multi-pitch trad climb called Ancient Art in the Fisher Towers, located near Moab UT. That climb to date is still one of my fondest climbing moments.
As for the question, what I love about climbing or why I love climbing? It’s impossible for me to answer, but I do know that climbing is closest thing to my religion.
Other Interests: Is there such a thing?
Interesting Facts: I have cadaver bone, pins and plates in my heel due to lack of double checks. Climb SAFE or don’t climb. Also Flamingos are only pink because of the food they eat, if they don’t eat enough then the turn grey. I think that’s Interesting.
About Me: Dan didn’t include climbing into his repertoire until somewhat recently. He first got a taste for outdoor climbing at Red Wing’s Barn Bluff. Dan also enjoys the occasional BWCA trip, weekend along the North Superior hiking trail, playing soccer, and swing dancing. Dan also enjoys crossing things off of his bucket list, and dragging his wife along for the ride.
Hometown: Fridley, MN
Climbing Since: 2014
Favorite Type of Climbing: Sport Lead has put a new spark in Dan’s climbing ambitions. He enjoys the adrenaline rush that is given while climbing a route that is particularly challenging and even out of his comfort zone.
Favorite Climbing Area: Wherever he can find a belay partner
Best Climbing Story/What I love about climbing… What he enjoys most about climbing is its adaptability to suit anyone’s skill level. As the Programs Coordinator he enjoys creating opportunities so that everyone can give the sport of rock climbing a try.
Other Interests: I enjoy the occasional weekend on a BWCA trip or along the North Superior Hiking Trail. In my free time I’ll attend a yoga class, try a new water sport, play soccer, or go swing dancing. I also try to cross things off my bucket list, and drag my wife along for the ride.
Interesting Facts: I recently went on a mission’s trip to Haiti.
About Me: I have competed in all disciplines of climbing. I competed with Vertical Endeavors Mountain Goats for 6 years. Climbing around the country and attending regional, divisional and national competitions was a big part of my youth. I have a passion for training young climbers to be strong and healthy and to catch the climbing fever.
