NicroBloc Review

We were lucky enough to get our hands on the new NicroBloc early. The NicroBloc is a wooden portable hang device made by Nicros. There are two versions available, “A” & “B”. Both come standard with a four-finger 16mm & 12mm edge. Option “A” has a mono, two-finger pocket, 8mm edge, & 6mm edge. While Option “B” has a wider 8mm edge & 6mm edge.
The first thing we noticed about the NicroBloc is its compact design. Sitting about 3″x3.5″ it can easily fit into your pocket. So it won’t clutter your pack or weigh you down, just throw it in your pack and take it to the gym or crag.

Portable hang devices have exploded in popularity over the years. They are compact, versatile, and efficient. You can hang from them, sling them against your foot, lift weights, or pair them with a Tindeq (or other strain gauge device). You can use them to build finger strength, warm up, or use them to prep your fingers for try hard attempts. We used the NicroBloc for all of these, and it performed wonderfully. We did off the grounds with a loading pin for building max finger strength. We paired it with the Tindeq for an overcoming isometrics style repeater & max strength protocol. We slung it against our foot and incorporated it into our warm ups. We also slung it against a tree to prep our fingers before try hard attempts on projects outside. In each of these cases it performed and was fun to use.
We loved the NicroBloc for its sleek & simple design. I opted for Option “B”, I appreciated the simplicity of the edge choices. Being able to grab the 16mm edge and work my way down to 8 & 6mm edges was awesome when climbing on thin limestone that had a lot of small, “bitey” holds.
Available now for $32.95. Which option would you choose?

Climbing is dangerous, it involves inherent and other risks and cannot be eliminated. The information presented here does not describe all of the risks associated with climbing and is not intended to replace or supersede expert instruction and training.
