Climb for a Cause will be holding it's third annual benefit at VE–Bloomington on May 15th from 8pm to midnight.

Climb for a Cause is an all ages fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Access Fund. Registration fee is a donation to ACS with additional funds to be donated via our raffle tickets. Activities and lessons occur throughout the evening including belay lessons, technique clinics, rappelling, and fun competitions!

This rock climbing fundraiser is inspired by the ‘Relay For Life’ events put on by the American Cancer Society's volunteers and supporters! This is an all-ages, family-friendly event. The participation fee proceeds are donated to the ACS with a small portion towards funds to run the event. Participants will climb from 8 pm - Midnight and are welcome to try the various other activities offered.

Activities include Basic Top Rope Skills class, technique clinics, slackline, rappel station, fun competitions, headlamp climbing, and more! Prizes will be given out for competitions and some to be raffled off as well!

Frequently Asked Questions

1.) What is the fee to participate?

The fee to participate is $40 per individual. We are also offering an upgraded package for $15 more! This will be donated to the American Cancer Society, with a small portion to fund the event. If you can bring more to the event, please do so! The more donations, the better!

2.) Do I have to stay the whole time?

You do not have to stay the whole duration for the event, but it is strongly encouraged.

3.) What if I don’t have a team? Can I still participate?

Absolutely! We are only registering per single participant, so you aren’t required to register as a team. We encourage climbers to come in with partners! But please, do take some breaks, and check out other activities available!

4.) Will food be available?

Please plan to bring sustainable food with you for the event. We have our vending machines still, and some coffee and kombucha on tap as well. We will provide small snacks.

5.) Can visitors come to the event without registering/participating?

Visitors and spectators are more than welcome! They are not required to register. We ask that they make a small contribution to the cause, however much is appreciated! They will need to fill out a facility waiver as well. If spectators plan to participate in any activities, they should plan to register.

6.) Is there a minimum age for participants?

No! This is an all ages event! That in mind, there does need to be at least 1 adult chaperone for every 6 youth participants (under 14).

7.) Can I make t-shirts to better identify my team?

Absolutely! Match, costume, however you like! Just as long as it is climbing appropriate.

8.) Is there any paperwork involved?

Glad you asked! Every person entering the facility, participating or not, will need to fill out our facility waiver. Any person under the age of 18 needs to have this form filled out by a parent or legal guardian. We are also asking everyone to please fill out a photo release form that way we can take pictures of this awesome event!

9.) Do I need to have climbing experience?

You do not! This event is welcoming for people of all skill levels. Even if you are coming in for your first time climbing, or if you’ve been climbing for years! We’re here to have fun and to help some great causes! We do require each participant and chaperone to have a current Facility Orientation on file. Those who wish to top rope belay or lead climb will need current belay qualifications as well. These need to be completed prior to the start of the event. Please contact the facility to check your status or come in within 2 months of the event to get those qualifications!

10.) Do I need to have my own climbing gear?

Nope! We have gear for you to use! This will be provided with your registration fee. We have climbing harnesses, climbing shoes, belay devices, and lead climbing ropes! If you have your own gear, you are more than welcome to use your own stuff! Just as long as it is in good condition!

11.) Do I have to participate in the activities or competitions?

Only if you want an awesome time! Participation is not required. Just come, hang out, and support the causes!

If you are unsure about the status of the participants, please contact VEB at 952-881-1110 to check the status of your waiver, image release, facility orientation, and belay qualifications!
